Chapter 12

Phaedra had no idea of the time. The sun had risen, the day had passed and she’d been oblivious, focused only on Mason and what they were sharing between them. For most of the afternoon all they’d done was make love, talk, talk and make love. She couldn’t remember being so happy and only briefly did she think that such might never have been possible if her mother had not been taken from her life when she had.

Phaedra would have loved to still be in bed with Mason, the two focused solely on each other and nothing else. Instead they were headed to Cape Yamu in Phuket to have an early dinner with the Kasam family. She stole a glance toward Mason, who was lost in his own thoughts as the driver of the private car they were in maneuvered his way through the streets of Phuket.

The man was absolutely stunning, she thought, a smile rising to her face. His attire was dress casual, black slacks, black blazer and a white dress shirt opened at the collar. He was impressive, the silk suit fitting him to perfection. Phaedra had chosen a halter jumpsuit from the collection of clothing Mason had made available to her, the red linen complementing the warm brown tones of her complexion. Side by side they made a beautiful couple. As if he were reading her mind and thinking the same thing, Mason squeezed her thigh, smiling sweetly at her.

“Are you sure you don’t mind doing this?” Mason asked once again.

Phaedra gave him a smile back. “Of course not. Why would I?”

“Mali,” he said, his eyebrows arched knowingly.

Phaedra laughed. “Are you sure there’s never been anything between you and that woman?” she asked teasingly. “Because Mali Kasam seems to be of more concern to you than she is to me. Mali does not bother me!”

Mason laughed with her. “I just want to make sure,” he said, kissing her lips. “Mali can be quite a handful.”

“If I need to, I have no problems putting Miss Mali in her place.”

Mason nodded, grinning broadly. “Claim your man, baby!”

She leaned to kiss his mouth as the driver pulled into the home’s driveway. “I’ve done that already and I will make sure she understands that.”

He winked at her, still chuckling softly as the driver pulled the door open for them to get out.

Overlooking Phuket’s dramatic east coast and the natural beauty of famous Phang Nga Bay, the Kasam family villa overlooked a stunning vista of beautiful limestone islands, tiny beaches and secret coves. The location was secluded yet conveniently close to town. In one direction Phaedra noted the premier Mission Hills Golf Course and two marinas. The home was a melding of contemporary architecture with key elements of traditional Thai designs. The multimillion-dollar property was stunning.

Daniel Kasam greeted them at the door. “Mason! Phaedra! Welcome,” the man said as he welcomed them into his home.

Mason shook the man’s hand. “Thank you for having us, Daniel!”
